Finding Suppliers for
Custom Rental Trade Show Exhibits

Choosing a supplier of custom rental trade show exhibits can seem overwhelming, especially if you don't know much about any of them. These tips should help you find the supplier that's best for your needs.

First, check the Web for suppliers of rental displays. Choose three or so and peruse their websites. Where are they located?

Second, check around with other businesses that exhibit at trade shows; do they recommend any particular supplier? If you're at a trade show, walk through the show and look for displays you like. Ask the exhibitors what company provided their display. Be sure also to ask about the supplier's reliability, service, and price.

Next, contact the top few rental exhibit suppliers on your list and interview them. Here are some things to ask:

• What marketing services do they offer? While these services add value to the exhibit package you receive from them, the cost is passed along to you. Be sure you won't be paying for marketing services you don't need. These services may include booth staff training, trade show planning, promotional activities and materials, lead followup, post-trade show evaluation, and results tracking. It's less costly to provide these activities in-house whenever possible.

• How big is the company? Do they have more than one location, and if so, where are all their branches? How many exhibit designers do they have, and are any available at the location you'll be working with?

• Are all their locations full-service? Do they offer design, installation, and transportation of their products?

• Will they give you references to check? If so, call at least three of them and try to get a feel for the reliability and quality of the exhibits and services offered by the supplier.

These tips should give you a good starting point for finding and choosing a reliable supplier of rental exhibits.
